Remember when TVs didn't have remote control and 1000s of channels? It's true. There was only a dial on the TV numbered 2-13...and you had to turn it by hand. Why there was no number 1? I have no idea...but you were lucky...you got 4 local air channels to tune in with minimal static. ABC, NBC, and CBS. The forth was usually some quirky local station: Channel 9.
